Comparison of Neurofeedback, Vitamin D and Combined Neurofeedback with Vitamin D Supplementation in children with ADHD: A Randomized, Double- blind, Parallel-Group Clinical Trial
author
Abstract:
Bachground: Today, some treatments like neurofeedback and Vitamin D Supplementation are of great importance in treatment of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Present literature showed efficacy each of them. For determination of efficacy of combined treatment, this study aims to compare the efficacy of each of them with combined neurofeedback and vitamin D supplementation in the treatment of children suffering from ADHD. Methods: In this randomized, double blind, parallel-group trial, a total of 120 patients (6-15 years) completed the trial. Patients assigned in 3 experimental and 1 control group randomly. The first, the second and the third experimental groups took vitamin D pearl (50,000 IU/week), neurofeedback and combined vitamin D and neurofeedback for 12 weeks respectively. Control group took any treatment. Then Vitamin D serum level was assessed at baseline, 4, 8 and 12 weeks in four groups. For gathering the data, Parent Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder Rating Scale-IV (ADHD-RS-IV) was used. Moreover, the data was analyzed using repeated measure variance analysis. Results: The mean scores in 4 groups was significant. Result of repeated measure variance analysis indicated the mean score in combined group was lower than other 3 groups (p<0.05). Conclusion: Combined treatment could be more effective than separate treatments and by applying combined intervention the duration of treatment was decreased significantly.

Treatment of vitamin D deficiency with high-dose vitamin D supplementation and its effect on hematological indices in pregnancy: A secondary analysis of a randomized clinical trial
Introduction: There are few studies regarding the treatment of vitamin D deficiency with a high dose of vitamin D and the comparison of serum vitamin D levels and hematological indices (Hemoglobin, Hematocrit, Platelet and Ferritin) in the first and second trimesters of pregnancy. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of vitamin D supplementation on these hematological indices in pre...
full textEffects of Vitamin D Supplementation on Semen Quality and Reproductive Hormones in Patients with Asthenozoospermia: A Randomized Double-Blind Placebo-Controlled Clinical Trial
Background: Animal models and observational studies have suggested a favorable role of vitamin D in male reproduction. However, randomized clinical trials investigating the effect of vitamin D supplementation on male fertility are limited. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the effect of vitamin D supplementation on semen quality, reproductive hormones, and anthropometric measurements in vi...
full textReduction of some atherogenic indices in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver by Vitamin D and calcium co-supplementation: a double blind randomized controlled clinical trial
The role of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) as a potential independent cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factor has recently gained considerable attention because CVD is the common cause of death in NAFLD patients. We aimed to estimate the effects of vitamin D supplementation alone or in combination with calcium on atherogenic indices, liver function tests and grade of disease in pati...

full textEffect of vitamin D administration on blood oxidative stress factors in university students: A randomized double-blind clinical trial
Introduction: Vitamin D deficiency is widespread in the world and is prevalent in Muslim countries despite sufficient sunlight. Vitamin D deficiency disrupts mitochondrial function and enhances oxidative stress and leads to common diseases such as metabolic disorders. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of vitamin D supplementation on oxidative stress factors in students. Materials and Me...
